This year’s election certainly has been interesting. I am very happy with the outcome on the local level. San Joaquin Farm Bureau did very well in endorsing several races. I look forward to working with each of these individuals and you can read all about them in this month’s SJFB News.

I will admit that I was nervous about Proposition 15. Farmers throughout the state worked very hard to get the message spread on how devastating this would be to agriculture in the state. We have won the battle, but the war will continue. We have not heard the last about trying to repeal all or some part of Prop. 13.

When the Farmers United PAC was created it was to work with current and incoming local county representatives. It became very apparent that we were going to need to involve ourselves with defeating Prop. 15. Thank you to all of those that donated to the Farmers United PAC. Your money was used in purchasing all of the signs you saw throughout the county and additionally bought advertisement time on one of the electronic billboards on Highway 99.

We also utilized social media and electronic campaigning that focused outside of our rural communities and targeted the middle class and majority of voters who this ridiculous proposition would have harmed. As stated above, the fight is not over. Please continue to support the Farmers United PAC. Any amount of a contribution you can make will be helpful. Midterm elections are two years away, but will be here before we know it. We cannot let our guard down!

The 2020 presidential election is not over. To think that it was all going to be over on Nov. 3 was crazy. Whatever the outcome is, as we enter the New Year, it will be either detrimental or favorable to agriculture across the country.

A Biden administration will bring back talks of The Green New Deal, WOTUS, Death Tax and many other policies and taxes that will harm us as agriculturists. Another four years of President Trump will continue to free us of over regulation and allow us to prosper with what we love to do.

In addition to finding out who will be the president for the next four years, the runoff election in Georgia for both Senate seats will be just as important. The COVID-19 pandemic is certainly the topic of discussion for today and the foreseeable future. It really is a thing and should be taken seriously, however, the solution CANNOT be worse than the problem.  It is important that the economy of this wonderful country continues to grow and that we as a nation continue to be the land of the free and home of the brave.

This pandemic has certainly made everything in our lives difficult this year. San Joaquin Farm Bureau has certainly not been immune to this.

Typically we spend the year attending different events, conferences and face-to-face meetings. We utilize these occasions to sell our Gun Calendar Raffles. This is a very important fundraiser for us to continue to fight for you as members. As we enter the Holiday Season, we have many calendars left to sell. They make great gifts to family members or even gifts to clients and customers. Please contact the office if you are interested in purchasing calendars. It will be greatly appreciated and will allow San Joaquin Farm to continue AGvocating for you!

The coming New Year is time for We the People to take this country back. Please enjoy this Holiday Season as best as you can. Please be safe and let’s make 2021 the best year ever!
