Back on July 15, the SJFB Young Farmers and Ranchers hosted their annual fundraiser. The theme of Summer’s Bounty held up to the name. The YF&R group put together a great event that was enjoyed by many, especially considering the hot summer night. Thank you to all the sponsors, donors and guests for your support in helping raise funds for such a great group of people within our agricultural community. The support you gave will contribute to student scholarships that at pursuing an agricultural field, funds for buying animals at AgFest and supporting agriculture exposure through the group of our Young Farmers and Ranchers. Congratulations on another successful event San Joaquin YF&R!

With summer nearing the end and harvest just around the corner, be sure to join the San Joaquin Farm Bureau at the Family Grill & Chill Barbecue on Sunday, Aug. 13. This event will be a great opportunity to come and meet the new executive director, Andrew Genasci, if you have not yet. We urge members to bring their family, friends and neighbors to a casual barbecue in the park at Micke Grove. CAFB President Jaime Johanson will be attending and I look forward for the chance for members to converse with him. Tickets are on sale on our website, or you may call the office for more information. The afternoon will feature a cornhole and horseshoe tournament, along with a bounce house and face painting for the kids. We appreciate your support and efforts to promote agriculture in San Joaquin County.

Looking ahead to the busy harvest months, I hope our farmers and ranchers continue to stay safe, healthy and productive. Look out in next month’s issue and on our email blasts for new Rural Health & Safety training dates. We are planning sexual harassment training for the employee and supervisor levels. If you are in need of specific trainings, please give the office a call. We are eager to hear more from you to continue to offer helpful trainings for your operation.
